Karori Wildlife Sanctuary

Hi everyone,

We spent a nice afternoon in Karori today. It is out on the western edge of town, and the forests are beautiful. It is fenced and protected from predators (with traps), so all sorts of indigenous animals can live there. We saw karas (parrots, pictured), tuataras (lizards, pictured), and cave wetas (enormous grasshopper like things in the goldmine). Sadly, we didn't see any Kiwis. We stamped around for a couple of hours, and I hope to go back in summer and try the less-beaten paths.

Enjoy the pictures! And CONGRATS COLIN on graduating!

Love, Amy
